Installing Asset Manager Demo:
Asset Manager Demo comes on one High-Density (FDHD) diskette and one 800K diskette. Make sure you have at least 6 MB available on your hard drive, then follow the installation steps below.
1) Create a folder named Asset Manager on your hard drive.
2) Insert the Asset Manager #1 diskette into your High-Density (FDHD) drive. Double-click the Asset Manager Demo installer file on the diskette. Click the Drive or Desktop button to select your hard drive, open the Asset Manager folder, then click the Extract button. This will extract the application file (named Asset Manager Demo).
3) Insert the Asset Manager #2 diskette into your 800K drive. Double-click on the Asset Manager Demo.data installer file on the diskette. Click the Drive or Desktop button to select your hard drive, open the Asset Manager folder, then click the Extract button. This will extract the demo data file (named Asset Manager Demo.data).
4) Double-click on the GraceLAN Personal Installer file on the diskette. Click the Drive or Desktop button to select your hard drive, open the Asset Manager folder, then click the Extract button. This will extract the GraceLAN Personal Profiler application file (named GraceLAN Personal).
5) Copy the file named “Stuff4D™ Tools” and the folders named “Reports” and "Labels" from disk #2 to your Asset Manager folder.
Considerations Before You Begin
The more memory you allocate for Asset Manager, the faster it will run. We recommend 2500K of memory, though Asset Manager will run in as little as 2000K.
Asset Manager will run noticeably faster in black & white (1-bit) mode rather than color. If you set your Mac's display mode prior to launching Asset Manager, the application will automatically select the proper color or blank & white screens to match the setting. Or, after launching, you can manually select the desired screens by selecting Preferences from the Dashboard's File menu.
If you intend to print any of Asset Manager’s built-in reports, make sure you have the following fonts and sizes installed on your system:
Helvetica 9, 10, 12, 14, and 18 point
Monaco 9 point
Times 9, 10, and 12 point
Starting Asset Manager Demo
Asset Manager Demo consists of two main files: Asset Manager Demo (the application) and Asset Manager Demo.data (the data). To start the program:
1. Double-click the Asset Manager folder to open it.
2. Locate the Asset Manager Demo application file in the folder and double-click it to launch Asset Manager Demo. NEVER DOUBLE-CLICK A DATA FILE TO LAUNCH ASSET MANAGER.
3. At the password screen, select a user name and enter the pre-set password ("admin" for Administrator, "staff" for Staff, "data" for Data Entry, or "browse" for Browse). The password system is case sensitive, so enter the password exactly as shown. If you are going to be the primary user of the database, you should log in as the Administrator.
After a few seconds, Asset Manager's "Dashboard" will appear. The Dashboard contains buttons that will take you directly to each of Asset Manager's primary data files. If you need help, the Online User's Guide is available from most screens by selecting Help from the File menu or clicking a Help button.
